This Club release features three wines perfectly suited to transitional spring weather: Estate Rosé, Red Pinot Gris, and Ramato. Pair these pink to orange hued wines with just about anything on your table. Classic whites include Pinot Blanc, and our Garden Series Chardonnay. Both pair well with Dungeness crab cakes, buttery seafood, chicken, egg dishes and anything creamy! Pinot Gris delivers brighter acidity and shines with fresh preparations of spring vegetables and lighter seafood and chicken dishes. Our carefully hand-crafted Pinot Noirs are a delight with dishes with duck, salmon, lamb, mushrooms, or a salad with beets and goat cheese. We’d love to hear about what foods you like to pair with Compton Wines. We love food – can you tell?

Please watch our emails and Facebook posts for information about exciting developments at the winery over the next few months. We sincerely appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the special Compton Wines we have selected for you in our spring release.

A style originating in the Northeast of Italy, Ramato of Pinot Gris is served as you would a red wine. Apple and apple blossom scent and flavor mesh with a hint of “iron” that comes from skin contact fermentation of this blush-skinned grape. Abundant, concentrated red currant, grapefruit, fresh-turned soil flavors with a subtle savory/spicy note. Unique!

Single Vineyard origin from Newton Creek Vineyard in Philomath, Oregon. The scent of this exceptional Red Pinot Gris jumps out of the glass with a rush of crushed raspberry, pomegranate, berry leaves and the same hint of “iron” as in the 2019 vintage.   The impression is of an approachable, balanced blend of fruit, citrus, and orange peel. This is a richer Red Pinot Gris than the previous vintage. We recommend drinking this wine at room temperature for best flavor.

Llewellyn Cuvee
Pinot Noir 2016
92 rating

$34/$30.60 club

Old Vine dry-farmed Pommard, Wädenswil and 115 Pinot Noir clones from our three favorite Estate Vineyards off of Llewellyn Road in the coastal foothills of Oregon. Marine sedimentary soils produce Pinot Noir with darker red berry and blue/black fruit with darker floral, earth tones and bigger tannins. Small lot fermentation and hand punch-downs, 18 months in French Oak before blending and bottling. We refer to ’16 Llewellyn as our Compton Tasting Room staff favorite for a reason!

“Moderately light ruby red color in the glass. Subdued, but pleasant aromas of cherry, spice cake and fertile earth. Exuberant cherry dominates the fruit profile in a middleweight style with gracious tannins, cohesive acidity, and a cherry-drenched finish. Score: 92.” Rusty Gaffnet, Prince of Pinot – Reviewed February 2, 2019
