Light garnet color in the glass. Reaching aromas of dark red cherry reduction, poached plum and forest timber. Light to mid-weight in style but packed with cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit flavors that engage and expand on the palate. There is a subtle underbelly of oak and dried herbs and some appealing spice shows up on the very long finish. Silky in the mouth and grows in appeal over time in the glass. Flat out great when tasted the following day from a previously opened bottle. Uncompromising and sophisticated and a steal at this price. Score: 94

This lovely wine is already into evolved, autumnal flavors. Cherry cobbler, pie crust, sandalwood, toast and a dollop of butter all contribute to a smooth, well-integrated and flavorful palate. Enjoy this over the next half decade.

PinotFile says: “This dry farmed vineyard consists of 2.1 acres of Pinot Noir planted between 1977 and 1980 to the Wädenswil clone. Alluvial, sedimentary loam soil. · Light garnet color in the glass. Aromas of cherry juice, balsam and earthy flora draw you in. Graceful, silky and cohesive, offering flavors of red cherry, raspberry and spice. Gentle power that packs more punch than the light color and demure composure would suggest. The gossamer tannins provide enough support and the finish has persistence without weight. There is something about Pinot Noir old vine patina that grabs at your soul. Score: 93″

A single vineyard Pinot Noir from Marys Peak Vineyard in Philomath Oregon. Pinot Noir varietal is 100% Wadensville. Well proportioned and complex, polished berry fruit with streaks of spice and zest. Structured and built for pairing with food, the long finish reveals and reiterates the savory and fruit flavors, adding a hint of fresh turned earth and deep forest notes.
